St Nicolas Primary School is a safe and caring community because it is built upon Christian principles. We aim to encourage children and adults to develop as confident, enthusiastic, happy and responsible learners; to seek to fulfil their personal and academic potential and to use their individual abilities to contribute positively to the welfare of those around them.

We aim to provide an inclusive learning environment for all children and this policy supports this in providing the principles of this for children with special educational needs and disabilities. This policy should be read in conjunction with the school’s SEND information report, which is available on in the Special Needs & Disabilities document folder above.

Our Vision

Our vision for children with special educational needs and disabilities is the same as our vision for all children - that they achieve well in their schooling, in order to provide the best foundations for the rest of their journey, which will lead to a happy and fulfilled life.

Overarching principles

The two overarching principles of this policy are:

  • All teachers are teachers of children with special educational needs and will strive for ever improving outcomes for all pupils
  • High aspirations for all of our pupils
