The School Day
Before School
For safety reasons, children should not be in school or on the playground before 8:30am unless they are booked into Breakfast Club. This is because they will be unsupervised and there is no guarantee anyone will see if they have an accident or there is a problem.
The School Day - Timings
The day is slightly different depending on which year group your children are in.
Lower School (Reception) |
|
8:30am |
Gates to the lower playground unlocked. You can bring your child in but must remain with them. |

3:10pm |
School ends. Reception children are released from one classroom door or the door to the atrium (your teacher will let you know which). Teachers will only release your child when they can see the person who is collecting them. |
The reception classes do not have set playtimes in the morning or afternoon because play is a vital and integral part of their curriculum so is included in class learning time.
Compulsory time in school: 6 hours 10 minutes or 30 hours 5mins per week.
Lower School (Year 1 & Year 2) |
|
8:30am |
The middle playground is supervised. You can stay with your child until they go into school or you can leave them in our care. |
8:50am |
The children line up and can go into class. If your child arrives after 8:50am but before 9am they are not late but may need to enter school via the main office as the playground doors are locked for security reasons as soon as all staff are in. |

Upper School (Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6) |
|
8:30am |
The upper playground is supervised. We prefer you to leave them in our care as soon as staff are on the playground as there are more children and it gets crowded. |

Year 3 |
For the autumn term, year 3 children are released from the end of the path between the middle and upper playgrounds. After that, provided we feel they are ready for it, we will release them from class and they will make their own way out to the playground to meet you. |
Years 4, 5 & 6 |
Children are released from class and make their own way out of school. Either you meet them on the playground or make other safe arrangements depending on the maturity of your child and their route home. |
Compulsory time in school: 6 hours 25 minutes per day or 32 hours 5 mins per week.
