Music & Performing Arts
Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they should develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and to listen with discrimination to the best in the musical canon.

During their time at St Nics the children will have the opportunity to take part in on stage productions in Reception (a Nativity play), Year 1 (a Christmas production), Year 2 (and end of year spectacular) and Year 3 (a musical). In Year 5 they perform a carol concert and in Year 6 they record a feature film.
As part of their music curriculum we provide whole class tuition in recorders for year 2 and for ukulele in both year 3 and year 4 all of which end in a concert for their families.
Children in the upper school take part in 'Let's Dance' which take place at the Dome in Brighton.
We do not normally film productions except the Year 6 movie but have the examples below from when we couldn't have families in attendance in the school hall so had to record everything!
