September 2021
Information about the start of the new school year will begin to appear here a week before you are due to return. It will all be sent to parents via the PING app as well.
The reason for leaving the publication of information so late is because the guidance from Government has been changed during the holidays and we suspect it will change again in the weeks and days leading up to the start of term. We have been planning more than one way of doing many things depending on the local Covid situation and what the guidance says.
Timings
Staggered start and end times will disappear. We will revert to the old school day timings which are:
Reception, Y1 & Y2: 9am - 3:10pm
Years 3, 4, 5 & 6: 8:50am - 3:15pm.
The playground will be open and staffed for years 1 - 6 from 8:30am. The doors to school will open from 8:45am.
The playground for Reception will be staffed from 8:40am.
PROBLEMS ON FIRST DAY
Mr Hayter, Mrs Bennett, Mrs Livesey and I will all be on the playground on Monday morning. If your child is anxious and struggling to come in, find one of us and we will help. If you can't see any of us, we'll be inside with one of the other children. Just wait for a couple of minutes and one of us will be back outside.
UNIFORM
We are back to normal uniform now. A waterproof coat is a must. The children can bring in a warm fleece or extra jumper in case they get cold in class.
PE KIT
Each year group will message you via Ping to let you know when PE is.
IF YOUR CHILD IS ILL
If your child has covid symptoms you should book them a test and they should stay at home until the result comes back.
EPIPENS & INHALERS
If your child has either, please make sure we have an up to date one in school.
BREAKFAST CLUB
Is open. Please book via Parent Pay.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
Pioneer (was Class Of Their Own) are also opening. You need to book direct with them.
HIGHLANDS ROAD
Please remember not to drive down Highlands Road.
This video explains what is happening and why.
PARKING ELSEWHERE
Please park in a considerate manner - never across people's driveways, on grass verges, on the pavement so parents with buggies or wheelchair users can't get past. Also, never in Locksdale's car park.
FACE COVERINGS
Please make sure you always have a face covering with you on site. You must wear it if you come into the school building or when talking to school staff outside. We strongly advise you to wear a face covering if you are having a conversation with other parents and need to stand close to each other.
LEAVING SITE QUICKLY AND NOT CONGREGATING AT THE ENTRANCES
I am asking you to continue to leave site as soon as you have dropped your children off at the start f the day or collected them. Without staggered timings there will be a lot more people on site. I know it is going to be important for you adults to be able to talk to each other and catch up as well but could you make sure that you walk a little way away from school so that the entrances and pavements near the school don't get too crowded.
Free Swimming in Brighton & Hove
This is available to primary age children after school, at the weekends and during the holiday. Check it out here.
