3rd February 2016
This month saw the launch of Public Health England’s latest Change4Life Campaign – ‘Let’s Get Sugar Smart.’
The aim of the campaign is to highlight the high levels of sugar found in children’s everyday foods and drinks, in order to encourage parents to get ‘Sugar Smart’ and take control of their children’s sugar intake through the Sugar Smart App. The campaign will run throughout the month of January and February with the traditional TV, radio, billboard and digital advertisements nationally.
Locally, schools in Brighton & Hove are receiving assemblies to increase children’s awareness and help them become Sugar Smart. More information can be found on this webpage, which also provides links to a PDF of the assembly presentation received this week and the Sugar Smart Challenge Card:
Over a week, before the 25th March, pupils have been set the following challenge:
"Can you drink only water and milk each day, with no more than one other drink, such as fruit juice, with a main meal over each day?"
• Families are encouraged to undertake the challenge together.
• Submit your results online to be in with the chance of winning fantastic prizes, including family meals at Healthy Choice cafes and restaurants, activity sessions, shopping vouchers and tickets for events and shows. We also have 100 goodie bags up for grabs! Enter here:https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BH_SugarSmartChallenge
This programme is brought to you in partnership with Brighton & Hove's Public Health team and Albion in the Community.
